Concentrating Solar Power (CSP)
Concentrating Solar Power (CSP) technology involves capturing the sun’s
rays and concentrating the heat produced in order to create electricity
via a generator. Mirrors or lenses may be used to focus solar radiation
onto a receiver. There are various designs for CSP technology including
solar troughs, solar towers and solar dishes. Temperatures of up to
1,500˚C may be generated, providing many megawatts of power. Examples of
this are the Stirling Energy systems solar thermal farm in the Mojave
desert, California.
